It has to be strife. I love the aspect of having to complete missions and solving puzzles instead of just going  from level to level.

I have to agree with you deathdealer I mean strife when I first played that game I was automatically hooked with what elements they added to the game's engine like RPG elements and being able to make choices that could change the game man it doesn't get any better than that I do like amulets and armor a bit although it is not as incredible as strife.

when i first played strife
my computer had issues with doom games that aren't ports
sadly, every time i played the game would slow down in some parts
i couldn't figure out what the people said
i spent most of my time playing without cheats
thats hard for me not to use cheats in id games
i almost beat it without cheats, but i cheated
it had a suprising ending

it's a fantasy type game from 1997 using the doom engine
it was amazing what they did with the game

Yeah I have played that game its pretty interesting the levels are huge and they are seperated into the different quest and you don't have to complete them in order but you have to play smart in order to survive I mean you can die as many times as you want in any level but the problem is you have to remember where you died at and get your stuff one thing at a time and hope that no enemy was there to attack you or else you would have been screwed over so its not like diablo where you when you die you just had to find your dead body and just click on it and you get your stuff back it much more severe than that. There a whole series of classes you can pick such as the knight, cleric, rogue, thief, even a warlock but I chose the citizen because it was my first time playing but it is a fun game but its just challenging at few points but with safe precaution and cautious gameplay you should do okay.
