seach in google for a program called bit commet. thats a pretty good download program required for torrents.. you will need to set ports and open them on any routers, usually 6881 - 6890 and make sure they are the same in the torrent program..

torrents is basicly the new download fad out there, file is downloaded bit by bit of lots of different people, downloading different segments of the file from different people then compling em alll into the finnished file.

downloads CAN be very slow with lack of seeders and leachers, but lot of the time you do get decent xfer rates.. I max out my connection alot on them.

I downloaded the file from torrent without any problems

Now I don't have a clue what I'm doing - there's only 4 files in the folder - MI-LSL7 which is a BIN file
MI-LSL7 which is a MSInfo Document
MI-LSL7 which is a CUE file
& www.snesheaven.org which is just a link to their webpage

I can't open any of the files (other than the shortcut) so I don't have a clue what to do with it

the file you downloaded is an iso, someone created it you can either burn it to a CD, or run it on your computer, to run on your computer you require a virtual CD drive emulator. I recommend daemon tools once it has installed you may have to restart, either that or load the app from the start menu. click the taskbar icon andload up the .bin file. virtual drives will be added to you my computer..

acts just like any other drive.

there are several other programs that do the same thing if you dont want daemon, but I highly recommend it. help should be on the daemon webpage for usage.

be warned tho, I did say the file may not be english. I havnt checked myself
