Looking for the name of a game

Posted - Sat, 23 February 2008 @ 23:53 Hello I'm trying to remember the name of a game I used to play in England around the late eighties. I'm hoping that if I descibe the mechanics, it may just ring a bell with some of you fellow gamers. It was basically a duel between upto 4 players, hotseat, (Ai or Human) using wizards and spells, using an overhead view. The basic spell types were summoning creatures to fight for you, find weapons and accquire potion components, also potion creation to give enhanced effects (strengrh, speed, invisibilty etc) using the accquired components. Weapons could be enchanted and some creatures could use items. AFAIK there were 2 versions. The first was a VERY basic dos game, using a bare arena, the secomd a more proffessional presentation with terrain, and your wizard started in his own house. I cant remember much about the game but the game balance made for some really fun duels. Here's some of the features I remember:- Potions needed a cauldron to brew the potion in and a flask to carry the mix. Or you could drink straight from the cauldron. The types I remember were strength, defence, speed, invisibilty and the wonderful super-potion that gave str+def and speed. Pixies...These gave some of the funniest moments as they were invisible and could carry wepons and use flasks. Centaurs.... good for scouting and component collection. The first version had dragons and enchanted forests though I'm not sure these were used in the later version. Mage bolt spell for a direct hit on enemies rather than weapons. possibly lightening bolt and fireball spell too though I'm not sure of that. That's about all I can remember for sure, but if this game sounds familiar too you, then please suggest a name, as it's the sort of think that's on the 'Tip of my tongue'. Should I ever find a copy I'll upload to here and you can all enjoy. Great site and thanks for any help. Majik
