About Inferno

Review 1: Years later after the original Terran's home system was destroyed and the Terrans moved through the Neutral Zone, the universe is at peace, for a while. But unexpecticly, a civilian freighter is attacked, not standing any chance agains the invaders, the Rexxons, who the Terrans encountered ater they fled from their home system many years ago. Seeing as there is a threat at hand, you are sent out to see what is remaining of the freighter and to stop the attackers, when you arrive there, you transport over to the freighter to find that there is still people remaining on-board. However, Rexxons are inside and you are grabbed by suprise, you fight back but they get you and you are then put into a tube filled with a strange liquid that transforms you into one of the Rexxons themselves. In a mad rage, in your altered form, you slaughter the remaining Rexxons on the station and are turned back into your own self, human again. After the ordeal you are stronger than ever and are willing to destroy the Rexxons completely. (The full story to this is in a comic that came with the original boxed game.) Inferno uses a similar engine to TFX and Epic, but is quite a bit better than them both. The 3D graphics on Inferno are pretty good to say the least. The plot to the game is good too, although not as deep as Wing Commander's dense storyline. Inferno is a great game, the graphics are good, the sound and music is great. In fact, the music is pretty damn good actually.

Review 2: A great sequel to DID's underrated sci-fi space simulation Epic, Inferno continues the storyline of the Raxxon - Terran conflict that began at the time of Epic. The premise is more interesting and offers many more plot developments than the original game: you are a Terran pilot who was ambushed by the Raxxons, who transformed you surgically into one of their own. Enraged, you killed all the Raxxons on board the station to regain your human form. With renewed vigor and thrist for revenge, you vow to eliminate their race once and for all... Inferno is based on an improved version of the flight engine used in DID's modern sim TFX. The improvements are very striking: textured ships and other space objects look much better than they did in Epic, and there are many minute details such as fuel trails and different types of missiles that look different. The missions are more varied than in Epic in both scope and locale: you'll dogfight enemy ships in space, fly into space stations to do indoor battles, and engage ground targets on planet surfaces. The plot unfolds as you play, with a dash of space opera/ political propaganda to keep things interesting, delivered via good-looking cutscenes accompanied by speech (missing in this CD-rip). Overall, Inferno is an excellent and much overlooked space combat sim that is perfect for fans of arcade-ish Wing Commander games who want a more varied and realistic sim.

Review 3: Inferno is a science fiction 3D space simulation game set in the future, the sequel to Epic. Years later after the original Terran's home system was destroyed and the Terrans moved through the Neutral Zone, the universe is at peace, for a while. But unexpecticly, a civilian freighter is attacked, not standing any chance agains the invaders, the Rexxons, who the Terran's encountered after they fled from their home system many years ago. Seeing as there is a threat at hand, you are sent out to see what is remaining of the freighter and to stop the attackers, when you arrive there, you transport over to the freighter to find that there is still people remaining on-board. However, Rexxons are inside and you are grabbed by suprise, you fight back but they attack you and you are then put into a tube filled with a strange liquid that transforms you into one of the Rexxons themself. In a mad rage, in your altered form, you slaughter the remaining Rexxons on the station and are turned back into you're own self, human again. After that ordeal you are stronger than ever and are willing to destroy the Rexxons completely. Inferno uses a similar engine to TFX and Epic, but is quite better than them both. The 3D graphics on Inferno are pretty good to say the least, with some good texturing on the objects within the game. It also has some nice movies in the game too, with speech (CD version). The plot to the game is good too, although not as deep as Wing Commander's dense storyline. Inferno is a great game, the graphics are good, the sound and music is great. In fact, the music is pretty damn good actually. If you have played games like TFX and Wing Commander, you should give this one a try, its a great game.
