Review

"This variant on Tetris is downright bizarre. Instead of trying to fill out rows in a grid of two dimensional space, the idea here is to stack facial features so as to create a complete portrait. Chins, lips, noses, eyes, and ""tops"" are the elements used to create a face. What makes the game difficult is the fact that the components do not simply drop down one by one. Because the fall in sets, the challenge is to try and build up complete faces while dumping unmatchable parts into columns where there is little or no progress on a fresh face. Too much of this dumping creates a useless stack that will eventually reach the top of the screen and bring about the end of the game. One of the redeeming features of the game is the ability to import a variety of graphics, such that one can control the array of faces used in the game. Perhaps the least impressive of the Tetris variants, Faces nonetheless has some novelty value and should be of interest for those who collect the genre."
